Inlays and onlays are types of dental restoration used to repair a broken-down tooth or replace an existing large filling.
Inlays are designed for tooth damage affecting the indented portion of the top of the tooth. Onlays are for more extensive damage. They are used when the damage is not severe enough to require a crown.
Unlike traditional inlays and onlays, which can take several visits and require the placement of temporaries, with the CEREC system Dr. Schulz can apply these in one visit, often in less than an hour. And with our painless injection system, your treatment will be pain-free.
In the past, tooth-colored filling material was not durable enough to withstand the tremendous biting forces required by back teeth, which limited cosmetic dentistry to front teeth restorations. The CEREC system allows us to create beautiful tooth-colored restorations both for front and back teeth that match the color and appearance of the rest of your teeth. It creates the same translucence, color and brilliance as that of your natural healthy teeth.
Fillings are a fast and painless procedure with us. We use a painless injection system and Air Abrasion, a drill-less technique for removing tooth decay. And we always use high-quality composite (white) fillings.
Many of our patients have wished they could replace their old silver or amalgam fillings, but didn’t want to endure the pain and the time it would take. That’s why Dr. Schulz uses advanced CEREC technology to create natural looking fillings in just one pain-free visit.
William B. had a metallic silver and composite filling replaced with a tooth-colored CEREC filling.
This patient had a large amalgram filling replaced using CEREC technology.
